Be-midbar - Numbers 1:1-4:20
In today’s class Ross begins by pointing out that the world slipped quietly by a prophetic date and for the most part did not even notice. On Iyyar 28th on the Hebrew calendar (Wednesday, May 16, 2007) we crossed the 40th anniversary of “Jerusalem Day”. Many are looking forward to the anniversary on another calendar, but has the prophetic clock began to tick once again?
This week we begin to work through the book of Numbers in the Torah reading cycle. Numbers represents an ideal state in which God dwells in the midst of his people in the wilderness, and therefore the generation that is depicted in its words could truly represent the “greatest generation”.
In today’s class after a short intro, Ross works through chapters 1-3 of Hosea to discuss the most neglected subject and yet the most prominent theme in the Hebrew prophets - the Lost Tribes!
