Behar / Bechukotai - Leviticus 25:1-27:34
This Sabbath we completed the book of Leviticus. Ross speaks on “Times and Seasons”, specifically from a prophetic perspective of the times and seasons.
Join Ross and the congregation of Roots of faith as they explore the subject of Sabbatical years, and Jubilee years.
The Sabbatical year was a rest for the land (Leviticus 25:1-7).
Daniel chapter 9 is one of the favorite passages for prophecy students. In Ross’ introduction to the Torah portion he covers the prophecies of Jeremiah that form the basis for these words (Jeremiah 25:11 & 12; 29:10).
He then goes through Daniel 9:20-27 and ties in 2 Chronicles 36:17-21.
In regards to prophetic time, you will learn that according to ancient rabbis, the 120 years of Genesis 6:3 are Jubilee years - and thus the “days of man” are 6,000 years and then comes a special Sabbath. So, we have a weekly Sabbath, a Sabbath of years, and so on and so forth up to the highest order.
One of the most intimate pictures of God occurs in this week’s Torah lesson. It is believed to be an ancient marriage formula. It says, “I will be their God and they shall be my people”. You will find that this appears several places in the Hebrew Bible - (Leviticus 26:12; Jer. 7:23; 11:4; 24:7; 30:22; 31:33; 32:38; Ezekiel 11:20; 14:11; 34:30; 36:28; 37:23, 27; Zech. 8:8)
Ross also shares that it was during the ancient Sabbatical year mentioned in this week’s Torah lesson that the public reading of the Torah began.
You will not want to miss the lesson this week. Listen to it and share it with your friends.
Shalom
